Scary Fact

Toy story Bully Sid from Toy Story has a hallway carpet which has the same design as the nightmarish corridors of The Shining. Give it up to Toy Story editor (and Toy Story 3 director) Lee Unkrich, who adores the Kubrick film.

President Problems

In 1957, President Harry Truman (a Democrat) took a trip to Disneyland and refused to ride the Dumbo ride because elephants are the symbol of the Republican party.

Alligator Scares

Due to its swamp-land setting, Disney World frequently attracts alligators, which have been found swimming around Splash Mountain, and even in one of the public toilet blocks.

Lion King Fact

The Lion King was originally called 'King of the Jungle', before some bright spark noted that lions don't tend to inhabit jungles.

Foreign box offices have added another $674 million, for a global total of $1.072 billion, Disney spokespersons said.

Tips for Spring Break

- Bring food and water. You don't want to waste $2.50 on a water bottle AND you don't have to wait in line.
- Skip park hopping. Switching from park to park means you will spend a lot of time on the Disney transportation system. All the Disney World theme parks are crowded this time of year so you won't really benefit by switching mid day.
Make dining reservations. Schedule your dining plans way in advance. You will not be able to secure a table at a Disney World without a reservation.

Fantasyland Secret

When you walk into Sir Mickey's Shop in Fantasyland, look up to where the roof meets the walls.  You will see Willie the Giant from Mickey and the Beanstalk peeking into the shop.

Lost and Misplaced

Adults have misplaced an estimated 1.65 million pairs of glasses since 1971 when they take a trip to Disney World. Every year, the park finds an average of 6,000 cellphones, 3,500 digital cameras and 18,000 hats. You can say the kids lose their minds and possesions.

Disneyland, California

Disneyland, California, was built in the early 1950s and was finally opened in 1955. Walt Disney was so anxious to be on the site as much as possible, he built an apartment for his family above the 'Fire Department' on Main Street. A lamp in the window signaled to his staff that he was in residence. They now keep the lamp alight in his honor.
